Hello again,
I am curious as to what you guys do when you shut down an old motor like mine or similar at the end of a run. I have the pressurized tak and it works well. I have been turning the tiller arm control to stop as I come in to the dock. The motor shuts off as expected. I then loosen the cap on the tank and let the pressure off. Then I disconnect the tank and store in my vehicle for tthe trip home.
In the morning, I have found a small gas stain on my driveway and have determined that the fuel is coming back through the fuel line from the carb bowl and is dripping from the male fuel metal intake line.
Is there a way to shut down the engine so as to clear the fuel line and bowl of fuel to prevent this overnight drip. It is a small amount but it does stain the ashphalt.
Perhaps there is a small cap I could rig to slide over the male fuel intake metal fitting to prevent the drip overnight. Or maybe a better shut down procedure would solve the problem. This is just a gravity issue and not a serious leak[I think].
So how do you guys deal with it? Looking forward to your insights.
Thanks,
Sean.

You could probably run the carb dry after disconnecting the fuel line

You will probably always get some spillage. Just put a rag around the fitting and it will soak up what ever drips out.

I've got an extra femail fuel fitting with a small loop of gas hose.
I plug it on and let the motor run the carb dry.
It keeps gas from dripping in the boat or water.

There is a way to convert it to a single line system with a fuel pump.

Of course that will drip when disconnected too. Unless you use the new style motorside fuel connector with the check valve. They're only about 50 bucks.

Well, don't be afraid of it. It's only a little outboard motor. Treat it right and it'll treat you right. When you unplug the fuel line from the motor, of course fuel will drip. It's natural. If it leaves a stain on the driveway, it's okay. Won't hurt nothin' Some say to run them out at the dock, after you unplug the fuel line connector, but that isn't going to drain the system completely. It's acually not good for the engine to do that. So, it'll be good if you just twist the grip to shut off the motor and unplug the fuel line. Anything that drips out, is okay.

Can you not leave the tank connected after you crack the tank top to bleed off pressure?

I like the rag principle.
