I need some help finding out the year of this motor. I can't find NO tags or any thing about this motor. I did take it to a local shop and they didn't know. They couldn't get it to run. They said that the electrical is bad and they can't get the parts. Any help would be nice. Just for you info I live in NW Ohio.

It looks like a 1969 or 1970 to me. The serial number tag if it was still on the engine would be on the clamp bracket just above the tilt tube.

Looks to be 1971. That's the low tension maker-point magneto. The donut stator is quite expensive. Some folks have rebuilt them with Radio Shack components.

Thanks I will look into this.. I thought it was a 1971 also by looking at other on line.. Do you know of any other places that any numbers could be located at on the motor?

The serial will be stamped on the cylinder block, top side, near the water jacket cover. It will be stamped, not cast, into the block. 7 digits long.
