I need an F12379 coil for my 89 7.5HP Gamefisher (Force) outboard, problem is, it's a NLA part. I haven't called any marine shops, but I've found if it says NLA, they are long gone. This is the same coil used on 88-92 Force 9.9 and 15HP outboards. Does anyone know where I can get one,,, for a reasonable price? Iboats has an aftermarket CDI P/N 116-2379K2 ignition kit for $160, but if I can get a replacement OE coil for $50 or so I'll go that way.
Also, has anyone used an aftermarket ignition conversion from CDI Electronice? Good, bad, ugly? I don't mind dumping $170 into the ignition since this outboard is in real nice condition, just sucks about the parts availablilty,,,
From another thread I replied to:
The top cylinder is at 95#. If it had a bad head gasket wouldn't it be lower than 95#? I don't have a leak-down tester to check for a leaky head gasket... Also, I didn't verify the bottom cylinders compression since my tester won't fit, interference with the cowling, but it must have good compression since it's running pretty good on only that cylinder. When I removed the plug at the lake I didn't notice and water droplets on the plug, but I wasn't looking for them either.
I slapped it all back together and double checked to make sure #1 cylinder didn't have spark, nope dead,,, swapped plugs, same thing, not fire on cylinder #1's plug wire ...

You may have a bad head gasket letting in water. The water would make the plug appear clean and un fired.Do a compression check or look closely for water droplets on the plug. Perhaps sniff.
