1998 Wellcraft Eclipse - Volvo Penta 7.4Gi - 108hours
I just changed the oil and filter. Put in the SAE 30 as recommended, and a new WIX filter (cross-referenced to Volvo filter). I hooked up the hose, and ran it for about 4 min. Ran just fine.
The oil pressure guage has never worked quite right so I wanted to test the voltage. I had my wife start it while I had my volt meter on the back of the guage. She ran it for minute, so I could see how many volts I had (9.8 DCV if that matters). She shut it down. After a few moments I wanted to start it again, and it would not turn over. Just a click sound from the engine compartment.
I read posts about vapor lock, etc. So, I've removed the spark plugs, and drained (pulled) all the oil. But still the only thing I get is a click..
I put my battery charger on for about three hours and nothing...still a click.
My fears are that I seized it? But, the engine oil level was good on the dipstick. Then I tried looking for the starter and I can't seem to even see it..
Any ideas? Is this vapor lock just a bunch of BS?
I'm mechanical minded, but not a boat mechanic.
