6Y5 fuel management gauges ??

I'll start this with a couple of questions.
1. Can the 6Y5 fuel management gauge read Total Gallons used, and Gallons Per Hour, without being connect to a GPS or a Speedometer gauge?? The gauge is connected to a 6Y5 tach. I understand that it has to be connected to a GPS or Speedo if I want Miles per gallon. Or am I wrong?

2. When I turn the key on, the Fuel management gauge show the check test. Then the TTL reads 0.0 and stays there, but the GPH reads 0.0 and when I start my motor the GPH gauge shows a bar across it. Does this indicate that the meter is not working, or am I just not giving it enough time. or is there some other reason. Or is the problem related to question number 1??
The fuel management gauge is brand new. it is on a Yamaha F115 TRX 2005. I been trying to get this gauge working for a month.

Any help would be appreciated.

You should get TGU and GPH.

Sounds like TGU is reset each time you turn the key.
With my Flow Scan system I get TGU since the last time I reset the clock.

Might want to check if that function is configurable

In effect your are averaging consumption over a hour. You will not get a viable GPH reading until an hour of run time is past.

IMHO…any type of fuel monitoring w/o a GPS signal to go real time is a waste of effort

thanks much for the info. I'm really only interested in TTU right now. I go Elk hunting on Fort Peck Lake for a couple weeks at a time and the nearest gas station is 100 miles away, It would be nice to have a little better idea of how much gas I have in the tank.
