6hp johnson parts needed

Hi all I have a 6hp johson, kit but johnson and would like to order a carb kit, the model numer is:J6BACTA and I cant find a 6 hp form 1983, I should also say its made in belgium

I'm wondering if maybe this was model meant for Europe or perhaps Australia. I found an Australian auction on eBay for a manual covering this model. It definitely is an '83 and is probably very similar to the 7.5 hp model, as far as ordering parts go. Strange thing about this model year, the 7.5 has a model # that starts out "J8".

Also found an online .pdf factory service manual covering your model and more, $12.49 download at manuals.com:

As far as looking up parts go, I'd go to a site such as marineengine.com and look up an '83 7.5hp and I'll bet it gets you purty close to what you need:

1983 Johnson Evinrude 7.5 hp Outboard Parts by Model Number

You'll at least be able to figure out if this is the same style as your motor.

Thanks emckelvy, its also funny I have a restircor plate between the car and inlet manufold (hole smaller than inlet outlet)

AHA! Sounds like maybe it's a 7.5 restricted to 6hp. Bet it runs better without the restrictor plate!
