I have a 69 merc 9.8HP outboard that I puchached used. (sn 2935662)<br /><br />I got the motor, put some gas in it and fired it up and it ran great. I did notice that it got warm and I didnt see a telltale. I shut it down and pulled the lower unit and put a new pump inpeller in and reassembled the engine. to my surrprise it wouldnt start. I started checking stuff and found that i didnt have a spark.<br /><br />I have checked the coils and there is actually some spark. enought that i accidently shocked myslef, but apparently not enough to jump the spark gap. I checked and filed the points, and reset the gap. Resistance wise they look ok.<br /><br />My question is, what is the output of the stator supposed to be. There is some voltage there, but i dont know what the spec is supposed to be.
