69 johnson 40HP carb questions

Hello all,
first I would like to thank everyone for all the help I have received from this forum, you guys helped me take a non running motor and turn it into a pretty decent running piece of equipment. My current issue is this, I swapped out my 1969 carb for a 1967 carb. the motor runs great at WOT and at start speed my problem is a slow speed it misses and runs really rough and eventually dies out. It also sneezes out of the carb and has gas running out of the front of the carb. I'm thinking float adjustment, any other ideas would be great.

Clean it , kit it and go boating, carb is the issue. While your at it replace the fuel lines if not done so already. Now this is all assuming the replacement carb will work, where's F_R?

Should be ok swap. How's the link & sync?? But gas running out is not good. Float or float valve??
