Help!<br />I have finally got this oldy running great. The problen is that when I go to back it off the trailer. Reversing it off and then I thorw it in forward, nothing. It slips out of gear and then nothing no forward, no reverse - all neutral. I have taken the split lower unit apart several times and reassembled it and ran it to no avail. Each time the shift yoke has come seperated fron the clutch dog. It will do the same thing each time. Work great on the hose, but then when the water thrust is put to it the thing craps out. The mechanical shifting coupling agent is not the problen, just replaced and working fine. I put it back together as the diagrams say in the manual each time. Any advice? One thing, the clutch dog is rounded on the edges, but it is so uniform I think this is the design, any thoughts?

bdub....sounds as if the prop hub is slipping....bad. Put a reference mark on the hub to the prop outter hub. If these marks move when it don't do nothing, the hub is slipping. And yes, even though you use a shear pin, the hub is still rubber. As for the rounded dogs, if you get it going and when you come up to speed it occasionally feels like you hit a log, the lobes are done...will need replaced.

Am I reading this correctly? Is the shift yoke, and dog coming out of engagement each time?

I am not sure. I will get enough gear to get off the trailer, then when I throw it in forward I lose everything. I think the wishbone cradle comes seperated from the clutch dog. As it just lays in there.

That wishbone is on a pivot pin. Are you quessing it comes apart, or you know it comes apart? The only thing I can think of that would let the cradle fall down from the dog would be to leave out the thrust washers on the face of the gears.

Or the philips head pivot pin is broken or not engaged properly :(
