69 Chrysler 55HP Lower end

I rebuilt my lower unit, however when I removed it from the motor, the water tube came out. How do I get it back in? I can't seem to get it back in the grommet. For one thing I can't remember which end goes up, the straight end or the curved and either way I can't seem to find the correct position. Any suggestions? It's a type D from the Seloc manual.

With the lower unit removed take a flashlight and look up the motor leg. You should be able to see the hole it plugs into. The tube can only go in one way to fit. I am pretty sure the curved end attaches to the water pump and the straight part connects to the power head. Put the tube into the grommet on the power head first. It should hold in place while you raise the lower unit up to it.

Another thing you can do to be absolutely sure it's in right is to remove the motor leg, bolt it to the LU and reinstall. It's not hard to do. I did it by myself.
