Howdy, Ladies. Some history on this dragon would help. There is one possible that suggests itself, even with the butchered wiring.

On the starboard (right) side of the engine, on the side of the upper cylinder is a vac-yume switch (the spelling is required to confuse the paranoid censor software). This switch should be open when the ignition is ON, but close only while cranking the starter. It is operated by a rubber diaphram that is over 30 years old. Try pressing in on the diaphram when you start her up. If she runs while you hold pressure on it, take it apart and clean the innards (unless you can see that it is leaky, then get a new one).

If that doesn't work, give us some history and we'll try something else.

Red sky at night.
JB

Hello,
thanks 4 responding..just having someone there helps..lets u know things u never knew u never knew..and helps to think again..
the vacuum switch u refered 2 has been removed from the system in days gone by..also missing is a voltage suppressor... a voltage regulator...and a temperature switch..The book shows a positive lead from the ignition side of the key to the pulse transformer..yet, when this was hooked up, the transformer overheated & split the case...however, after splitting the transformer case and removing this wire, engine still starts when starter is engaged and dies when released..begging for help and going crazy!....Dave & Kathy & crew

Yo, Dave and Kathy and Crew. Did this engine ever work for you, or did you recently get it from some !@#$%^& who assured you it was okay? Lemme study this old manual to see if I can figure a way to restore it to something resembling what OMC had in mind without buying it over and over again.

More later.
JB

JB this is what we bought / he hit the key, it barked & he shut it off.(so as not to run it without water}..Any help would be greatly appreciated..and thank you for responding...again..hopefully we can get this restored..seems to have a *** base, and the man we bought it from seems conscious and conscientious
