My outboard inline 6 cyl is hard to start and stalls when idle or engaged forward or reverse. Notice lots of fuel leaking (dripping) out. Do I need to rebuild carb or is choke possible stuck open???

The carbs will need new needle and seats and floats.

TMD

When I removed cowl and cover, I found center carb leaking excessively. Since the three carbs are linked together, what would be the procedure for removal, rebuild, and installation. I have no manuals on this. Also carb kit part number for ordering reference!
Thanks for the reply and info!!! :)

BZ: Get a manual- it will save you lots of time and ruined parts.
Go with TMD's advice. The floats on these are lousy- not brass; replace them and the needles and seats. The manual will tell you how to set the float height.
If this engine is like my '65, you remove the choke linkage and flappers, remove the fuel inlet crowns(all three carbs), then remove all three carbs as a set. The throttle linkage just slides apart. When you get the carbs out you can remove the float covers easier and clean them while changing parts. You should also replace the fuel filter screens under the crowns while you're in there.
Suggest initial setting on idle mix screws of 2 turns out. You'll end up at about 1 1/2 when they're adjusted for good idle.
Good Luck-- and keep us informed!!

Ordered carb kit with Sea-Way in Seattle. They are great for parts! Also got my carbs rebuilt with help from a friend. Motor runs great and just in time for the silver runs! Thanks for all the help and info. This website is awesome! :D
