i was givin a boat with the johnson motor and i have no clue what im lookin at. heres the question? i took the cover off the motor and i was lookin around and i found a black wire about 3 inches long on the bottom back right hand corner it was striped and green from corosion. it is coming from a three wire harness. there is a gray in color metal mounting plate? where the wires are. but there isnt anything mounted to it . the plate has 2 holes that go up and down on the back part of it and just above them theres a little cylinder that is silver in color and has 2 wires attached to it one of thewires comes from the wiring harness the blak wire comes from i think that wire is tan in color. can anybody tell me what is missing or where the black wire goes
