I have a 1968 evinrude 85 h.p. It always fired up real easy & ran like a top until I was out on the lake fishin. We went to go across the lake about 3/4 throttle & it just quit like I shut the key off. I took the cover off and found a wire that had broke off at a bolt on the motor. The wire came out from under the flywheel that runs along the linkage under some heat shrink & went to a bolt on the motor with a clamp that held the wire. I found a piece of wire and bypassed the clamp and hooked the wire together. The boat started but ran like **** and kept quiting on me. We ended up getting towed back to the dock. When I got home I took the clamp that the wire broke off of and it looked like the insulation was stripped off the old wire where the clamp held it. So i replaced it the same way and the motor would not start. So I took the wire out of the clamp & it started but ran like **** and kept quiting on me just like at the lake. I got to looking and seen that there is another wire that is coming out frome under flywheel inside the heatshrink that is broke off inside the heatshrink. Where does that wire go & is that my problem. Please help the motor ran like new before that wire broke off.
