I need to remove the shift cable. It seems to be stuck where it passes through the transom area. It there a seal or a lock that I am missing here? My book says just unhook the leads and pull it out the back with the outdrive.

To remove the lower unit - Is it just the six bolts and the shift cable or is there more to it?

YOU WILL ALSO HAVE TO UNDO THE TRIM RAMS.

IT DOES GET HUNG UP WHEN PULLING OUT, BECAUSE IT PULLS LONGER AT THE ENGINE PORTION.PULL HARD. NOT AS TOUGH TO GET NEW ONE IN.

If you can get a helper to sit in the boat and guide them through, it should help. I worry about just yanking harder as I would avoid breaking them. All you are trying to do is get them through the grommet.
