Hello all!
I am trying to get the wood dasboard out of my boat. I have removed all visible screws and lock nuts. I have also drilled out rivets for shelf directly in front and attached to the wood. Feels a little looser but just wont budge. Is there something I am missing? Under the rub rail/trim that goes around the inside? If so what is the best way to remove that 43 year old rubber?
Thankyou to any and all info.

Dave,
You hit the nail on the head! Under the rubber on the inner rubrail you'll find screws that hold the rub rail insert to the dash. Beyond the dash the insert is held in by rivits. Take the screws and rivits out just for the curved piece and then you can remove the dash.

As far as the rubber goes, you have to go back to the stern where it ends, grab it with a pair of needle nose pliars and just start pulling it towards the front of the boat and it should pop right out. Some folks have had luck with re-installing it but I just bought some elcheapo camper trim stuff on eBay and replaced mine.

Should be some pictures in my Sunchief restoration thread linked in my signature if you have a couple of days to read it:) :)

Now, your payment for the above mentioned information should be 4 or 5 pictures posted here of your boat:)

And welcome to iboats!

Re: 67 nassau dashboard

Just did this on my nassau. I pulled out the trim using a flat blade screwdriver, just dug it in and pulled it out. Turn out the screws there. Easy.

The way the dash was cut meant that there was no way to get it out without drilling out rivets that were attaching a mounting bracket to the hull or cutting the dash. I ended up cutting a bit off the end to get it out.

Gentlemen. Thankyou.
This boat is going through a mild restoration.I bought it at the end of last season, and had just enough time to put it in the water and run her around for a bit. It has a 1965 Johnson 75hp. electramatic. The guy who winterized it said its the best running old Johnson he has seen in a while with no signs of ever overheating. The next project is converting the steering from cable and pulley to rack and pinion or gear steering. if you have any tips or tricks on that I would love to hear them. Im very glad to have joined this forum. As far as payment. As soon as I figure out how to shrink the pictures on my p.c. I will download as many as I can. Thanks Again!!!
Dave.

Sounds nice, I am trying to visualize it. 67' Nassau you say. Hmmm what would help me top see what you are describing here. I dunno how about some PICTURES. That would work, I love looking at old boats.

I can't speak for the other gentleman here but I love looking at other guys' projects. I might be the only one, but I need visual aids. VBA, visual boat aids. Post up some VBA's please.:p

Dave.

You can shrink them online. I use tinypic instead of photobucket because I don't want to mess with logging in or creating an account or losing the photos due to inactivity etc. Just go to tinypic.com, browse and find the photos, select the 640 size, and hit upload. Then post the img link on the next page after its uploaded.
