I recently "inherited" a 67 Evinrude 6hp 6702D that hadn't been out of a barn for about 7 yrs. Amazingly enough I was able to start it with minimal work.

The water pump assbly has a thin metal plate on the bottom with a gasket under the thin plate. Underneath the gasket and plate is another thicker plate approx 1/4" which appeared to be seperate from the housing with another gasket underneath it. The 1/4' plate had weak spot in it and a hole broke open while I was working with it.

Is this piece something that would normally come with the water pump replacement assbly? Or am I up a creek now (figurativly speaking). I eventually managed to pry the piece off but the center broke off around a pressed in brass fitting with a peculiar rubber/spring insert. Can I find a replacement for this?
