66 Evinrude 100hp motor dies after 30 min.

My brother has a "66" Evinrude 100hp outboard. When he takes it on the lake, the motor will work and while driving in full throttle, it dies, after about 30 seconds or 1 minute, it starts right up. The same thing happens after awhile longer. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this to happen? Thanks for any input.<br /><br />Drobles83

hello<br /> when was the last fuel system service to include a pump overhaul? you can install a vacum gauge just before the pump inlet (after a pump rebuild) and check for restrictions. should be less than 4"Hg at wot.<br /> what you describe is usually a running out of gas condition. but It can be caused by overheat. test the compression first.<br /> good luck and keep posting
