After rebuilding the carbs on my 1973 65hp merc, I'm now trying to synchronize the primary pick up. Should you use the butterfly valves (inside the carb.), as an indicator when the throttle actuator is making contact with the throttle lever. Any help would be apreciated.

I have the manual but its vague at best. It says to disconect throttle cable, losen adjusting screw between the spark plug advance and the throttle advace arm, move the adjusting screw inward & outward until the throttle acuator cam just makes contact with the throttle lever. Question , when the butterfly valves (inside the carb) start to move is that what it means or should I go until it reaches the base of the throttle lever,

IMHO you would be safe to adjust it until you can see the butterflys barely move.

Thats my vote. Anybody else???

Good luck, Gold Bear ;)
