I drained and refilled the LU on my '75 merc 650 (3cyl) this evening. It only took around 11oz before it came out of the top hole. Does this sound right. I've looked through my manuals and don't see a capacity listed. Is that good or is it necessary to let it set a bit and allow the bubbles to rise to the top and re-check?

Re: 650 LU fluid capacity

The factory manual says 12.5 oz. Since every drop of the old lube probably didn't drain out and you said about 11 oz you are pretty close.

Thanks. BTW, which manual do you have and where were you able to find it? I have the Merc manual but it's in pdf form and couldn't find it.

Rock the engine up and down and let it set overnight then in the morning top it off. Air and water are an LU,s worst enimy. Close is good but full is much much better.JMO
