Alright heres the deal, the short version. The boat had a short shaft 65yr evin motor on it that was trash. I took it and put a long shaft 1997 Johnson 50hp. Of course switching motor styles I had to put on a jack plate so to say to get the engine higher in the water so it didnt bog out to bad. I just got to take it out on the water today and good news the motor runs, and throws out a good water stream so its all in order running wise. Now when I put on the throttle and letting it go idling speed it will creep on along and run fine , but as soon as I put on the throttle the engine just revs up super high but the boat almost comes to a standstill. When I got the motor, it had a pontoon prop so he threw on a 13 pitch, he didnt know if it would work and told me I'd probably have to switch it but he didnt have anything else to throw on it at the time. Just trying to make sure this guys not taking me for a ride another thing it doesnt have a whale tail on it(would that make a diff). But like i said the engine was running fine just when I put on the throttle just the really high rev. So I ended up creeping around for a few minutes because I didnt want to mess it up and came home. any advise would be appreciated!
