possible powerpack. Is that the Magnapower III? One of them was prone to failure.

(saw your other post re the Magnapower II -- best to stay with one thread). I don't know which of the powerpacks is suspect -- maybe all of them (and don't get me wrong, I've had some good times with Chryslers.) You might try getting your hands on a replacement powerpack (Magnapower II) and switching it out with the one you have. Maybe there is a shop in your area that carries parts motors and used parts.

The powerpacks can also be checked. A manual for your motor will provide instructions, but you will need testing equipment. Another option, of course, is to pull it off and bring it into a shop and have it tested.

believe it's on the back of the powerhead (side?)-- thought you had read the indicator on it saying it was "Magnapower II" -- That would be it.

You are looking for a black box that should be marked "Magnapower II" or something similar. I recommend you get a manual for your model, and check out some illustrations -- also the discussion/instructions re. powerpack testing and replacement.
