Hello everyone!

My partner and I have been looking for a Starchief or Chieftain for years now and finally came across a local one this month. She needs a LOT of work.... but we’re excited for her final resto-mod. Currently though she is seaworthy but we barely know where to begin with her. Previous owner definetely did a number and even left complimentary empty beer cans scattered in the boat - so you can imagine how she handles. Any advice for first time boat owners who are out of their minds would be appreciated!!

Note:

If anyone knows where we might be able to get a new windshield and windows that would be awesome, most are sadly missing on our girl. The only other major missing part is her transom side cap on the right side and as we desperately need to replace her transom any advice on that is super helpful too :)

Thanks!

- Tom & Jackie

(P.S.) We attached a picture but it really does not do justice to how rough she is aesthetically. The closer you look the more you find wrong, even plants growing out of her!!! But she will be worth it!!!!

:welcome: aboard and to the Starmada!

Yeah it's amazing how people treat their old boats and how over the decades they become trashed from neglect. My Chief was no exception but they can be brought back to better than new condition.

I had to have a glass company make a new poly-carbonate lower windshield for mine. The upper windshield will be a tough find for sure but you can always look for a donor boat that has a WS, I've seen guys use a split one that opens in the middle even.

You do have your work cut out for you!

Hey mob, I know you're lurking in the depths this time of year but what's with just all the views? This new member is going to need some strong support and guidance with this one.

Congrats on the new boat and welcome to the forum. I don't know as much as the guys who have done full restorations but I'm here to help where I can. We need more pics!

Welcome Tom & Jacky!

2 pieces of advice.

1.) browse a few restorations so you know what you're in for.

2.) share more pics :hungry:
