I am currently looking at buying a 1963 starcraft 14ft (or so I am told). I am curious where I would find a hull ID # and a capacity plate on it? I included the pictures so you can also verify if it is a 63 starcraft? Thanks for any and all help!

I was having trouble sizing the pics down, if they need to be bigger let me know.

That boat looks like a late enough model to have a metal tag riveted to the outside right rear for a hull ID.

As for max hp and load information, look in the transom area, inside.

If you can't find the capacity plate I'd recommend measuring the centerline length, beam, transom height and compare it to the 1963 brochure.

It's probably a Sea Scamp which was 13'9", with a beam of 52" at its widest point. Here's a link to the brochures thread, just click on the years to check them out. There is a page for '63 that shows all the specs and whatnot.

More pictures would help as well, those are zoomed in pretty tight to see the lines of the boat.

If ya do buy it this site will help you out if needed. Good luck with the rig:)

Thanks for the help.
I went and looked at it, it does have a hull id that is screwed in with two different screws into the transom. It also has a capacity plate that lists the model as a SF-14 with a 5 person capacity.
Any guess on how much a trailer like that would weigh? Or how much the decking would add? The deck runs the entire way from bench to bench in the picture. Thanks!
