Re: 63 65hp merc shifter

when lower unit is in reverse the prop should only be able to turn in either direction about 1/3 of a turn.

Re: 63 65hp merc shifter

hi,
the first thing to remember is NEVER drop the bottom leg in any other gear apart from forward!! so to correct this problem. put the leg back up, shift it into forward then drop the leg again. on the gear selector (just above the gear box towards the rear of the unit) turn it untill the prop is in neutral then bolt the leg back up being careful not to turn the prop in either direction. this should work.

Dont remove the shifter from forward untill the leg is bolted back up it will sync itself if you do this. some motors have 2 nuetrals so if this doesnt work, drop the leg in the same sequence and find the other neutral in the gear box. hope this helps

any other questions or problems please ask.
