Just got this motor installed on a 14' McKeecraft. New plugs, good fuel. Runs fine when not in gear (electric shift). As soon as I put a load on the engine (put it in gear) it stalls. Any suggestions? Any help appreciated.

Hi, Blue. Very very likely to be fuel starvation or one cylinder operation. If pumping the primer bulb gets her to rev up under load you have a fuel starvation problem. Most likely suspect is the fuel pump, but other possibilities are restrictions in the tank pickup or vent, fuel hose, primer bulb or hoses; and, finally, the carburetor.

If pumping the bulb doesn't help, try pulling a plug wire. If the engine slows dramatically or dies, that is a good cylinder. If there is no change, that cylinder is not making power and probably has no spark or some other serious problem.

Let us know what you find.

Red sky at night. . .
JB

Sounds like another older OMC in need of new coils and a good check-up.
