The wirng harness cables that go from the motor to the solenoid box have very freyed connectors at the box end, and there are several smaller wires going to the motor head with poor splices. But, I also have a 40 hp Johnson "parts motor" with a very good harness. I was thinking of swapping the two, but the smaller wires don't all go to the same places, as the two motors aren't exactly the same.

My original Evinrude service manual doesn't show this, and I'm afraid of messing it up. Does anyone have advice or a diagram of the connections? Or, should I simply try to shorten and repair the original harness cable ends and deal with the splices as best as I can?

Thanks!

Thanks! Is posting in two places considered rude or a no-no? New to this...
