Re: 60's Outboard Shift and Throttle Linkages
The wireing harness won't work either from the 79. The tack hooks up to the stator wires on the the rectfier. Set the tack to 12 pulse's. So I think you need to get a harness, for a 63 /35 hp motor, and I'd use the white box. The linkages work as follows, (diagrams would help...but.....) The shifter lever moves a cam which has follower on it to move the reverse-forward-neutral cable. The same cam, has a linkage/dog which moves the throtle cam, which in turn moves the throtle cable. The fast idle lever, moves the cable itself, and not the cam. If you have taken it apart, to reassemble, it is not that hard. First. set the cams to correct orentation. R_F_N cam teeth are set to the middle of the cable teeth travel . The throtle cam is set to the left end of the throtle cable teeth. assemble all the cams in the throtle side of the housing. Set the lever in the neutral possiton. Then in the R_F_N half, set that cam in N. now, lay the throtle section down, (remove the neutral ball bearing screw) take the reverse half and lay it down over top. A little jiggling and it should all be back together.
