Hi, new at this, hope I'm in the right place. Did this before but said I wasn't logged in so I'll try again. Had detailed info before but will make this short. 1992 60hp low oil beeps at idle but not at higher rpm's,also the tach is erratic at higher rpm's.Book and tec said regulator, didn't help, could tach and vro be bad? has very low hours and set up for years, other wise in mint condition. any help would be very much appreciated.

Sounds like an electrical problem, check the wires for being frayed or grounded out or possibly corroded.

possibly a rectifier.

My 92 Johnson 60hp does the same thing. All wiring was good but the regulator was bad. I'm NOT AN EXPERT AT ALL but my motor would run just fine even with the bad regulator. I just replaced it and I'm hoping come summer it will be better.
