First you buy a manual, here on iboats or at a dealer or bookstore. Then you turn to the chapter called water pump removal/installation.
Seriously most of them are similar, remove the bolts holding the lower unit (the manual will tell you how many and where the hidden one might be), then you disconnect the gear shift linkage (different for every make and model), and then it falls on the concrete and breaks the skeg or your foot. The water pump impeller sits in a housing on top with the drive shaft running through it. Remove the bolts holding the housing on and you there. The manual will tell you specifics about parts and seals and the order of reassembly.
