Re: 60 knot RIB

This picture shows up a good bit here. Bottom line is that if you can afford to run that many engines, the cost of fuel is insignificant. Everything is relative...

Drug money would be a possibility,or maybe owning your own oil company.
What makes me really wonder is why you would ever want to put 2000 ponies on a dog like that boat.It is very doubtful that it would get on plane.

According to snopes, it was used for drug running, and the authorities took it over.

I guess sarcasm doesn't quite make it through the keyboard. Oh Well!

I found this in a news story on another site. It was custom built by a Brittish company for smuggling(High power, low profile, almost zero radar signature, colors that blend in from above...)

Law enforcement still won though, this one was siezed carrying drugs.

Re: 60 knot RIB

I saw some pics somewhere of it up and running, definately on plane...

I worked on a rib once (changed a fuel tank sender) that had a pair of Yanmar diesels connected to surface drives.... I recon it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-35 feet... Neat little toy... I'm pretty dang sure that it would hit 60 knots, if not more, without much fuss....
