60 johnson compression

just got my 1985 60 hp johnson running"carb kit and fuel pump" I would like to know how to do a compession check and what the comp. should be<br /> thanks

Readings are known to vary from 1 manufacturer of testers to another. Difference between cylinders is more important than exact readings.<br />Anything above 100 is usable. All cylinders should be within 10% of each other.<br />Motor off, all plugs out.<br />Crank motor at least 4 turns for each cylinder.<br />If cylinders appear low, sometimes decarb will help.

thanks for your help mg<br />someone told me that you should warm up the engine first and then open the baffles wide open if that sounds right let me know thanks
