I have noticed in older threads a tohatsu 5hp could be converted to 6hp by a carb. change. Is this still true on newer models? I noticed the part numbers were the same for the 4, 5, and 6. Mine is a mfs5B
Paul, appreciate the response. Just a question, the part number through Tohatsu is 3AU03200-0 and lists the same carb. for the 4,5,6; I assume when one orders it designating 6hp is the differance. How do I contact you to order carb.?
The 3A number is for the newest version of the carburetor...Which you do not want. The 3R number is an older model carburetor that met a lower EPA rating and it was/is/ will be less likely to varnish up.

Yes. Run the earlier carb, as it will be more reliable. There are 3 different carbs for each motor series (A vs B vs C). That is to say that it is not the same carb for a 4, 5, or 6 hp motor. They are distinct, and the carb determines the hp output of the motor.
