I have a leak from the oil pump cover on my 2016 5hp gas outboard. I figured the seal had gone bad and ordered a new o'ring seal. The new seal seems to be the same condition and hardness as the existing one, and replacing it did not stop the leak.
Both o'rings seem a little small for the groove, and don't look to get compressed by the cover plate. Is there a trick to getting the o'rings to seal well? I torqued the cover to 70 in-lbs as specified, but it still leaks.
Thanks
