My '62 texas maid was powered by two lark IV's, but lost one in a trade for a kicker. I am running on one now, which is fine except for I cannot get more than 3000 rpms out of it. Any chance my throttle cable is worn and needs replaced? Any ideas?

There are a few things that could be your problem. To really cover all of them,[assuming you are doing the work yourself] you need to get a manual.Seloc is good and sold reasonably here on I-BOATS and covers the troubleshooting your looking for like carb,fuel/ ignition sync, your cable, etc. It could be as easy as a primer bulb hose.If your cable still moves good and has some adjustment left, its probably ok.The manual will give you all of your best options on diagnosis and help to more clarify your question.

If you suspect the throttle cable, simply disconnect it and work the lever on the motor by hand. That takes the cable out of the picture.

Have you determined if the speed is low, or the throttle doesn't travel all the way?

If the throttle opens fully, than that is not the issue. Did you reprop after going to one engine? Normally twin motors are propped higher than singles.

If that 's not it, check compression and spark and report results.
