hey all that helped..... to you i say THANKS. it was the timing, took her out on the lake, gave it the gas and it planed out in about 10 secs. runs great thanks again.<br /><br /><br />now, on the other hand, this water in the gears. should i try to fix the problem, or should i just keep changing the oil every-other time out. is this a reoccuring problem or can it be fixed. opinions please

Try and fix the problem, not the symptoms. Could be as simple as bad gaskets on the drain/vent plugs, or propshaft seal. If the motor runs well and you plan on keeping it, fix it right and know it's going to hold together.
