Yes I have a problem that it leaks around the prop shaft when I pressure test it.
I noticed that the shaft was a kinda "well used" when I reassembled but hoped for the best.

Since the shaft is a NLA part and can't find any on ebay AND I'm TIRED of buying used parts(on ebay) that don't work (worn out).

So until a can get hold of a usable shaft to a fair price I have to ask you guys about this...

Since I'm running the rude maybe 7-10 hours within a 2 months period a year I've thought of just change the lu oil when I put it away for storage. I think of it since the lu has no roller or ballbearing.

What do you think?
I'm I totally off or.....

That's what I would do. It only takes a minute to check the gear case and keep an eye on it. With the low usage, I don't think you will hurt anything.

Here is what I did when I had a worn shaft that would not seal , took a screw out of the lower unit and drilled a small hole in it and brazed a grease fitting on it and pumped lower unit full of grease , worked for years . Grease did not run out and water did not come in .

There are alot of guys that use grease, be it John Deere corn head grease, or Lubriplate 105. It is common for the older shafts to be worn and leak some. If you keep on top of it, inspecting the oil and topping up as needed would work. Just crack the drain, let the water escape (it will sit at the bottom), then refill.

You could also post a wanted ad at aomci.org in the webvertize for a good gearcase. Would be easier than swapping the shaft. A local member should be able to help at a reasonable price.
