Does anyone have the part# and a source for a float for this motor? I just ordered a carb kit from iboats and it doesn't include a float and I could not locate one on the iboat site.

Also, does this motor have any type of fuel filter?

Try www.maxrules.com. It looks like you'll need to buy the whole kit though. Part #439071. Have you tried a local dealer? They would most likely have just the float.

Re: 57 Lightwin Float

I purchased just a float last year for my "57 Fastwin from an online dealer that sold vintage outboard parts. I had to have my laptop rebuilt recently and lost all of my bookmarks and can't recall the site.

I refuse to go to dealers. Their prices are outrageous. I went to one to buy a dual hose fuel line and they were going to give me a "break" at $10 per foot. I then got a 10 ft length on ebay for $15.

I could find a float on ebay if I knew the part #.

I hear ya on the local dealers! Ebay is good if you're not in a hurry, but, if it were me, I'd buy the whole kit, use the float, and save the parts for next time. New floats don't need changing like the old cork ones do.

I found one for my 1957 cd-14 5.5 that I am currently rebuilding on Boats.net and not only was the price the lowest I found online the shipping was less than $2.

The float part number is 396514. They now are made of Ethanol resistant material, not cork. You don't have to buy the whole kit. It is a dealer item, so you either have to go to the dealer or somebody that sells OEM parts. List price is $8.63.

I just ordered a plastic float for my 1957 5.5 Johnson that I am rebuilding. I found one on boats.net and it was pretty reasonable and the shipping was less than $2.

I just went on the boats.net site and the search only goes back to 1968.

So, same float. 375919 (cork) replaced by the number I gave you.
