it looks like the casting has a relief to allow for a bolt though. I will post another photo. I would hate to remove it and have all the power band fluid leak out though.

hm-m-m-m-m, on second thought, I just noticed that is a commercial motor. Can't say I've ever seen one. So maybe there is something I don't know about it. You may be correct.

On the parts diagram it is CLEARLY shown as ----bolt steering friction.

my guess is someone in the design department was watching an old Boris Karloff movie when they thought of the bolt placement. i myself would use a long set screw with a locking nut to hide it and to keep the villagers from trying to burn it alive

No Title

Thank you all, this is and will be the maiden voyage for me with this setup. Just had the jet casting welded up for $50.00 and inch.

I found it in the parts break down also. It's a steering friction bolt. Learn something new every day.:joyous:

I was able to confirm that it is steering friction. Just seem like a very odd way of doing it.

Thanks All,

Mike

These motors were not marketed to the weekend , cottage crowd.------Odd that you actually have to mix gas / oil yourself.----Odd that on these you have to pull a rope to start them.-----Seems very convenient to adjust steering depending on what you do with this motor to earn a living.----I know folks that like these motors.
