We have this 55HP Johnson motor. Noticed that it is missing some thing.....Hmmmmm

The search is on for parts.......Rebuild

What does this represent?

55EL77D = 1977 55hp. look at the site below for parts. Was the engine under water at one time?

I am having a hard time locating a Trim and tilt for the Johnson.

Was this mtr used in salt water?? If it was be carefull when taking things apart as they tend to be froze up and break easely.

So far the major thing I see is the air box and cover missing and those should be easy to find on Ebay. My 55hp (Evinrude) is missing many of the tilt parts and rather than keep looking I just leave the motor down all the time. It never comes close to the ground on my boat and even with a kicker motor it does not cause a whole lot of drag. However I am not sure if all states allow motors to be towed in that position....I suspect ebay might be ahelp there too, or a good CMC tilt. Eventually that is my option, when I can afford it.

I don't want to argue with you but it sure looks like a salt water mtr to me. Been in Fl 22 yrs and in fresh water for I don't want to say how long. Never seen anything like that in fresh water.
