55hp Chrysler outboard not shifting into forward gear Reverse gear works great Took it out today worked great for awhile the forward stopped working Reverse works great Need advice

Could be the linkage needs adjusting.
Motor off. Disconnect the shift cable at the linkage and shift by hand.
Turning prop with your foot. See if it locks in?
Prop hub spun? Try a different prop?

Maybe the clutch dog is bad?
Did it thump or bang while running?

Any more info?
