Yamaha C55TLRT (1995 model). I have a Michigan Wheel that came on the motor but its so beat to hell that I'm scared to run it (yes it came that way, for the most part  ) I don't have a tach installed but have one ordered. not sure which wires to hook it up with though. Motor is mounted on a 1996 May-Craft 1700. Aprox. 800 lbs. Realistically I need a good place to start but then again I don't want to have to run thru 15 different props to find the right one. I've about lost all hope on this thing.

You may find prop numbers near the base of the blades or under the prop nut.
You may be able to get the prop repaired at a prop shop.Get the prop fixed and do a some test runs remind us of the prop size
and the wot rpm and speed. My guess is a 13" would be a good start.

yea 13" was my guess too but that was a completely uneducated guess. I don't really think there's much hope for that prop. I know its a Michigan Wheel that the local shop said had be reworked at least once before because of a stamp midway up on one of the blades, and between the 6 of us, none of us could read any of the prop numbers on it.

Go to the Yamaha web site and look at the "Performance Bulletins" section. You can select your engine, select y0ur boat (or one close to it) and it will display test reports along with fuel consumption, speed and the prop used. You would probably need to use the 60 HP motor as they likely don't list the 55 becauwe of its age.
