anyone know much about a 55 johnson i was told it is mid 1980s any good ? and it is on a 18ft alum starcraft think 55 is to small ? thax)

ok sorry about that i was just hoping to hear somthing good about this 55 johnson i had it running before i took it off to strip the paint only in the driveway tho the boat is a starcraft 1985 deep v and still not ready for the water.iam new to johnson's so dont know much about the name brand so just asking if anyone is happy with it is all)

The 3 cylinder 55's seem to be good strong motors as a rule. I have no idea about your model. How it was cared for in the past is just as important a question to ask, though.<br />Mine does a very nice job with my 15'11" fiberglass Silver Line which is not exactly light. Depends on how heavy your boat and typical loads are. I'm not in any great hurry on the water though and appreciate how easy it is on gas compared to the bigger motors. Mine will pull a skier just fine even with all the seats filled. Hope that is what you're hoping to hear.
