I am having an erratic problem with loss of power. It seems to occur after the engine heats up a while. Whenever it occurred last, the engine (under a load) would only reach 4200 rpm. It idled fine and would rev fine out of gear. Once the engine sat for a little bit, then it ran fine again. This is a recurring problem. Any help? Is it possibly a CD unit?

Take it into a dealer and have them troubleshoot it or get a service manual and start at page one. The symptom is broad so almost everyhing except the lower unit is suspect.

Check and see if water may be getting into one of your cylinders. If one appears cleaner than the other than this is it. Just a start!
