50 hp outboard johnson2 cycle

hello everyone, the other day while in the river i hit a sandbar,the engine idled fast for a minute and is backfiring,does anyone have any ideas what i can do to fix this problem? woud greatly appreciate any input,thanks, kenny

Don't know why iit would idle fast, but the back fire could be the flywheel keyis partilly sheared and threw the timing off?
