50 HP mercury 2 strk interchangeability of parts

I have a 2003 50 ELPTO...during last outing engine started missing bad & making noise....found middle spark plug gap closed apparently from piston hitting it..

Can any one tell me what range of year models are interchangeable with 2003' so I can find a used engine?

1998-2007 3 cylinder 40 or 50 hp as difference is the carbs...

Thanks, so they are all the same from 98 to 07 that is great.....I have an 03 that has problems..

wher ya at in TN...I have a brother that leaves at Mt Juliet.
