50 HP Johnson won't shut off.

I have a 2000 Johnson 50hp. It won't shut off with the key or the battery, only stops running after I disconnect the fuel line. Where should I start looking?

The battery is used just for starting so do not look there. Maybe the key switch or a wiring issue?

Sounds like you have a wiring issue. Do you have a kill switch?

try grounding the black/yellow wire at the pack. if engine stops, look for wiring/switch problem. If it doesn't kill with black/yellow grounded, replace pack

Or check the black/yellow wire with an ohm meter. With the motor not running and switch off, it should read low ohms. With switch on it should read open circuit. After you get it fixed be sure to check your charging circuit as it may have been damaged when you disconnected the battery while the motor was running.
