I have an 83 merc 50 4 cylinder ... I was having problems with the motor bogging down and only pushing half throttle.. changed the plugs.. plugs were slightly wet..decided to take a look at the carbs since i didnt know when the last time they were cleaned .. well i found a small peice of electrical tape that had gotten stuck to the choke flap.. took it out but wanted to make sure more of it didnt get sucked into the carb or cylinders.. disassembled carbs and suprisingly both looked very good... reassembled and reinstalled , readjusted ss needle screw, but now i cant get the motor to run without running the throttle up in neutral.. as soon as i start to back off to shift into gear ( at about 1/4) motor completely dies like a lack of fuel..is there other adjustments i should make to the carbs... dont really wanna mess with the idle screw since it was idling fine before ( a little rough but still idled) any advice would help thanks
