50 hp. even. elec shift

I have 1976 50hp elect. shift will not go in forwad or revers? Last time it was on the water it was working fine then when you put in gear it wold surg and try to go.

If the lower unit is low on gear lube will this keep it from going in gear?

I have no experience, but oil in electric shift is a sencible topic.<br /><br />Use only correct electric shift oil, or shift wont work proberly.<br /><br />In any case - dont run it if missing oil in lower unit, electric or manual shift.
