50 hp 2 stroke confusion

Need some help, I'm a little confused. I'm trying to buy parts ( impeller & carb kit) for my mercury 50 hp 2 stroke. The serial number is A188935 and when I look it up it, every website says it's a 1985 3 cylinder. Problem is, it's a 4 cylinder. According to everything I've looked at, mercury didn't make a 4 cylinder until 1986. The parts are different, so I'm not sure what parts to buy. Any help or explanation would be appreciated. Thanks

Not sure how or where you are getting your information.----They have made a 4 cylinder 50 hp since about 1961 or so and other 4 cylinder motors in the 40 hp range since 1954.----Post a picture of your motor to help identify it !

Your s/n comes up as:

MERCURY - ( 50 H.P. (1985 ))
Serial No: 0A188935 Model No: 1050525

Parts List for model 1050525:

45/50 H.P. - Mercury, Mercruiser, Force, etc. Parts Lookup

See CYLINDER BLOCK AND CRANKCASE ASSEMBLY and you will see that it is a four cylinder.

You are reading the chart wrong.
